From Gloucester and M5
Take the A40 (from Junction 11, if travelling on the M5) and travel Westwards past Gloucester City (splendid view of Cathedral) and continue on that road all the way to Huntley (7 miles/11 km). Travel through the village past the Red Lion pub at the traffic lights. The entrance to the site is on the left immediately after the little traffic island in the middle of the road, and before the next set of traffic lights.
From Ross–on–Wye A40
Take the A40 from the Ring Road and continue on the A40 for 9 miles/14km, until the junction with the A4136 as you enter Huntley at the bottom of the hill. The entrance to the site is 100 yards past this junction on the right hand side immediately prior to the little traffic island in the middle of the road.
From Monmouth (A4136)
Take the A4136 all the way to its junction with the A40 (15 miles/25km) and turn right. The entrance to the site is 100 yards on the right hand side immediately prior to the little traffic island in the middle of the road.
From Newent (B4216)
Take the B4216 from Newent High Street signposted to Huntley and continue for 5 miles/8km. At the junction with the A40 turn right and turn left after 100 yards immediately after the little traffic island in the middle of the road.
By Public Transport
The nearest railway station is in Gloucester, which is just across the road from the central bus station, from which there are regular buses to Huntley. Full timetables can be found on stagecoachbus.com. There are two different bus routes serving Huntley (please check the official timetables): 33 & 24.
Alight at the Red Lion pub and continue in the same direction up the road for about 150 yards to Forest Gate on the left. If you want to be a bit cheeky you can ask the driver if he will stop at Forest Gate (especially if you have a lot of baggage) but don’t be upset if he won’t! The official bus stop is just around the corner past the site.
To get back to Gloucester from Huntley there is a bus stop opposite Forest Gate which operates for both routes. We can provide bus times for you. You must signal the bus to stop. Please be aware that country buses frequently run early as well as late, depending on how busy the route has been, and you should therefore allow at least 5 minutes leeway on these arrival times.
Coaches travel daily from London (Victoria Coach Station) and most other large cities to Gloucester, arriving at the Central bus station. Fares are much cheaper than the rail fares. Full details are obtainable from the National Coach Company in your area.
It is possible to hire a taxi from the railway station. Fares vary widely depending on the time of day and will cost more on a weekend. As a guide the price is likely to be in the range from £15.00 to about £20.00.
